Gwendolyn P. Jackson

Region 2 Representative

Mrs. Gwendolyn P. Jackson serves as the Region II Representative for the African Descent Lutheran Association, comprising both the Los Angeles and Northern California Chapters.  Prior to her regional responsibilities, she faithfully served the Los Angeles Chapter as its Treasurer for three consecutive terms.

A graduate from California State University at Dominquez Hills (Carson, California), having received her degree in Psychology, Mrs. Jackson pursued a professional career in education.  She worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a Business Representative and then expanded her career pursuit as a Librarian for the Los Angeles Unified School District – Elementary Schools.

She furthered her studies by successfully completing a yearlong Deacon’s immersion course held by the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, directed by The Rev. O. Dennis Mims.  This offered Mrs. Jackson the opportunity to collate her professional work with her ministerial aspirations.

Mrs. Jackson remains a dutiful servant of Christ at Olivet Lutheran Church, Hawthorne.  For the last 37 years, she has served in multiple capacities, including congregational president and Deacon, which afforded her the opportunity to become the worship leader at Olivet as well as Community Lutheran Church in Los Angeles for defined periods.

Mrs. Jackson is a board member of My Friends House, Inc. (MFH), a non-profit food distribution and nutritional assistance agency and she assists in serving the community with much needed food products and related commodities.

Gwen can always be found serving others, in action, in assistance, and in prayer, because she believes, emphatically, that by serving others, she is truly serving God!

Mrs. Jackson is the proud mother of three adult children and four grandchildren.
