Judith Tutt-Starr

Recording Secretary

Mrs. Judith Tutt-Starr serves as the Secretary for the African Descent Lutheran Association of Los Angeles and is in her second term of office.

Mrs. Tutt-Starr’s teaching career began professionally in Columbus, Ohio in 1976. She spent 21 years from 1987 to 2010 serving as principals of Ascension Lutheran School in Los Angeles, St. Timothy Lutheran School in Lakewood and South Bay Lutheran High in Inglewood.  She also taught at First Church of God Christian School.  She is most proud to be called an Educator!

Judith participated in the writing of Educational Choice: A Discussion Guide for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), published in 1996.

She has served on numerous committees within the ELCA including the Churchwide Council, synodically as a Synod Council member and has served on numerous WASC accreditation teams, including being the chair of a team in Miami.

She has also served as a board member for the Academy of Science and Engineering Charter School in Los Angeles from 2012-2016.

Judith joined the My Friends House, Inc. Board (MFH) in 2011. Over time she has served as the Board Chair, Secretary and member. She currently is the Operations Manager and Coordinator of Volunteers, Food Retrieval and Distribution.  Through ADLA and MFH, she is most deeply rooted and fulfilled, offering her services to the community, a joy that is immense!

Judith is married to Rev. Dr. Albert Starr, Jr., and they have two adult children.
